More ways to stay secure: Announcing two new plans and another way to pay

We’re introducing new plans offering the highest confidence in the correctness of your code, and allowing payment via credit/debit cards for the first time.

We’re excited to announce some changes to our MythX plans that will be going live on January 31, 2020.

Now, whenever a team announces “exciting changes” it’s often code word for something bad, but in this case, these changes should positively affect (as far as we can predict) absolutely all of our known users.

Rather than differentiating each plan based on the amount of smart contract weaknesses MythX detects, our new plans are now primarily tailored towards the security needs of your project, enabling small teams, individual developers, enterprises, and professional auditors to gain full confidence that their smart contracts are secure.

Meet the new Developer Plan

We are launching a new Developer Plan. Aimed at those working on smaller projects building the next generation of killer web3 apps (and who aren’t yet raking in the crypto millions) this allows for utilizing the full range of analysis services, with no restrictions based on types of vulnerabilities.

This means that there are no weaknesses that MythX will find (but might not tell you about). You know what we know. Sounds pretty good, right?

Meet the new Professional Plan

The new Professional plan offers the full range of MythX analysis services with the absolute highest confidence in the correctness of your code.

You get 2,000 analyses per month at an unbeatable 90 minute maximum computing time per analysis. a 300% increase in maximum computing time per analysis than our previous plan. That means that MythX will be more likely to detect even the most hidden security vulnerabilities.

Plan

Meet your credit card

(Okay, so you probably don’t need to meet this one.)

We believe in web3, but we also want to extend the MythX service to everyone who wants it.

So, in addition to continuing to offer payments with DAI, we are now offering payment via credit/debit card. You can now pay for MythX just like you would any other web-based service, except this particular service helps you in Keeping Ethereum Secure.

For each vulnerability I also have the test case data at my fingertips.

FAQ

These are a lot of changes all at once, and you might want to know more. Below we’ve created an FAQ to help answer your questions. Got a question not listed here? Send us an email at [email protected] or tweet us at @mythx_platform.

Why are you changing the plans?

Our security researchers are always improving our tools, and this set the stage for us to offer deeper analysis, comprehensive analysis with fewer restrictions, and more options for our registered users.

With our new subscription plans, rather than differentiating each plan based on the number of smart contract vulnerabilities MythX detects, our new plans are now tailored towards the security needs of your project. Whether you’re working on a simple contract or a complex project with high-security requirements, we’ve got a plan for you.

Why are you adding credit card payments? Isn’t that against the spirit of web3?

Our goal is the security of the entire Ethereum ecosystem. We envision a world of seamless on-chain payments, but we also know that our ecosystem is still maturing, and there are many potential users who are not in a position to pay with crypto. Rather than shut these users out of our product, we want to encourage everyone to prioritize security, so we’re giving people more opportunities to use MythX.

When are you changing the plans?

Our new plans will be going live on January 31, 2020.

What if I’m currently on the MythX Pro plan?

Thank you for your support! You’re an early adopter of the first on-chain Ethereum subscription service, and you deserve some serious credit.

And we do mean credit. We will be upgrading you to the Professional plan’s features at no additional cost, with the pricing remaining the same for the remainder of your subscription. Upon your renewal date, you will be able to choose your preferred payment method by going to the Subscriptions tab in your MythX dashboard.

What if I’m currently on the free plan?

MythX has a free option available to all, and that’s not going away.

What is going away is the limited results of the previous free plan. With our new subscription plans, rather than differentiating each plan based on the number of smart contract vulnerabilities MythX detects, our new plans are now tailored towards the security needs of your project. In addition, you will be able to run up to 40 smart contract analyses per month.

What is residual risk?

Residual risk is the probability that a vulnerability still exists in a smart contract after scanning. The longer the analysis runs, the lower the residual risk will be.

All of our plans denote a residual risk estimate, and these values will vary according to the plan.

We recognize that security is not a yes/no proposition, and it is not possible to deem all contracts completely (and permanently) secure. What we can offer is an estimate of the level of risk that remains after running our scans.

The deeper the scan and the longer the scan runs, the more weaknesses that will be found, and therefore the residual risk that more weakness could be found is accordingly less.

Note that these values are estimates based on our extensive research and years of experience working in the security space and should not be taken as guarantees.

How do you count the number of analyses used in a given month?

Since our plans will now have a limited number of analyses run in a given month, we want to make sure that you know where you stand. So please be aware that your count resets at midnight (0000) UTC on the first of the month. If you exceed your number of allowable analyses and are on one of our paid plans, you can pay for additional scans, so you never have to wait.

What happens if I run out of analyses for the month?

We love your enthusiasm for Keeping Ethereum Secure! If you are on the Developer or Professional plans, you are able to pay for individual overage scans. You can also wait until the next month begins, at which point, your count will reset again.

How do I downgrade to a lower tier plan?

While all plans are prepaid on a monthly or yearly basis, you can switch to a lower tier plan (from Professional to Developer) at any time. You will need to cancel your current plan and repurchase the lower tier plan, which will be effective immediately.

How do I downgrade to the free plan?

While all plans are prepaid on a monthly or yearly basis, you can cancel all future payments. When your prepaid time expires, you will automatically switch to the free plan. You are never locked in to any payments.

How do I upgrade my plan?

You may upgrade to a new plan at any time and your account will automatically be switched as soon as payment is processed.

UPDATE (Jan 24, 2020): We clarified the difference between downgrading to a lower tier paid plan and downgrading to a free plan.
